QUESTION:

How many of our customers are online?

The Pew Internet & American Life Project released a new report in January 2009 December 2010 which compared how six different generations -- from the "G.I Generation" to "Gen Y" -- use the web.

The bottom line:

- If you market to people ages 18 to 33, 95% of your customers are online. (I know; sounds low!)

- Trying to reach Gen-Xers? 86% of your customers are online researching and/or shopping.

- If you market to those 45 to 63, 81% of your customers are online --- up from 66% a year earlier!

- Even for those age 64 and above, about half are online.
