QUESTION:How much does a website cost?A website developer who answers this question with "It depends," is one who speaks from experience. Imagine you're a home builder, and someone asks you, "How much does it cost to build a house?" You can't answer that question until you know how big the house is, how complex the construction is and what the building materials are. How many rooms does it have? Is there one heating system or two? Are the floors covered in cheap carpet or imported marble? Likewise, you can't really know how much a website will cost until you know how many pages it will have, how many different templates it needs, what the back end needs are, and so forth. Someone who will quote you a flat fee that they charge for all websites is not doing a lot of customization to their sites. They are likely using a design template with a set range of pages that are similar in all the sites they do. Or they haven't done enough sites to know how much to charge. Neither of these is necessarily a reason to not go with this developer: it's just that you should know what it is you're getting, and make sure that's a good fit for your needs.
